Since 1946, Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Wurttemberg. The town was strongly destroyed during the 1st world war. During the American occupation, Stuttgart became a place of DP (Displaced Persons) for forced laborers from Central and East Europe who lived in working camps and who worked in the industrial companies of the regions.

The district Canstatt belongs since 1905 to Stuttgart and is the oldest and biggest part of town. The Roman's fort - a sort of a rider's castle in Cannstatt at the Neckar conduced as the most important intercharge for so-called street and traffic routes at the end of the 1st century.
